Bearings • Ceramic Bearings
Ceramic bearings are generally constructed from ferrous inner and outer rings, filled with ceramic rolling elements instead of steel ones. The rolling elements themselves are typically made from ceramic silicon nitride, which is harder and smoother than most steel bearing balls. The result is a bearing with higher speed and acceleration capability due to lower friction, and greater precision due to increased stiffness. Furthermore, ceramic bearings not only require less lubricant, but exhibit less lubrication degradation and are resistant to oxidation, resulting in longer life.Typical applications include aircraft accessories, semiconductors, food processing machines, dental handpiece turbines, and other machinery that creates high temperatures, friction, or speed.Leading manufacturers: VXB, CeramicBearings.net, Ceramic Bearings, a division of Impact Bearing, Bearing Works, Bearing Kinetics, Performance Bearing, RC Bearings.
