A needle roller bearing is a type of bearing typically constructed from an inner race, needle rollers, a needle cage that contains and orients the needle rollers, and an outer race. They come in two basic types: radial needle bearings that are cylindrical and use rollers arranged in parallel to the shaft axis, and thrust needle bearings that are flat and use a radial needle pattern. Compared to ball bearings, needle roller bearings have a large surface area in contact with the outer bearing surfaces, resulting in greater load capacity. As a result, they are frequently used in engine components such as rocker arm pivots, pumps, compressors, transmissions, and drive shafts. Leading Manufacturers: Schaeffler Technologies, SKF, RBC Bearings, Timken, NTN Bearing Corporation of America, NSK Bearings, QBC Bearings.
