Connectors • Military Specification Connectors

Military connectors (MIL-SPEC) are shell-type connectors that are built according to military specifications, taking into account the need for protection from harsh environments. Specifications include number of contacts, contact type, shell size, shell style or gender, coupling size, contact size (AWG), and contact termination options. The most common shell sizes are available in 0.0625” increments, starting at size 8 (0.5”) and ending at size 36 (2.25”).     Air Electro offers Series I Solder Connectors that conform to MIL-C-26482 Series I solder standards, with standard Mil-Spec screw machined contacts and multiple plating options for shells and contacts. The company also offers Light Weight 26482 Series II Style Connectors, with RFI shielding plug available, as well as hermetic and stainless versions. The company also offers telephone plugs, biaxial shielded telephone plugs, telephone jacks, threaded telephone jacks, single shielded jacks, biaxial shielded telephone jacks, and Mil-C-55116 audio plugs with five or six conductors. Microphone plugs (two jack contacts and one pin contact, or barbed solder contact pin), microphone jacks (two jack contacts and one pin contact), barbed solder contact socket (for use with MC-121 and MC-221), and watertight regular and breakaway jacks and plugs are also available.

    Connective Designs offers MIL-SPEC and MIL-SPEC-compatible connectors. The MIL-SPEC connectors include MIL-DTL-5015 Series III Circular Connectors that utilize rear release contact retention and come in shell sizes 8 to 40, as well as MIL-DTL-26482 Series II Circular Connectors, that come in shell sizes 8 to 24. CDI L-Series Connectors include the CD90555 Wall Mount Receptable, CD90556 Straight Plug, CD90557 In-Line Receptable, and CD90558 Wall Mount Plug, along with MIL-DTL-38999 Series I, II, III, and IV Compatible Connectors.

  • HiRel Connectors Inc

    HiRel Connectors offers MIL-DTL-38999 Series I, II, and III Receptacles, and MIL-DTL-83513 Connectors, which come as either metal connectors or Micro-D connectors. MIL-DTL-83723, EN2997, ESC10, ESC 11 are available, as well, in configurations for flange mount, jam nut, and solder mount receptacles.

The MIL-PRF-28876 military shipboard fiber optic connectors provide multi-channel interconnects for 2, 4, 6, 8, 18, and 31 contacts (termini) in a single circular shell; the Fiber Optic Termini has qualified its optical termini to the multimode requirements of MIL-PRF29504/14 and MIL-PRF2904/15; and the simplex connectors and adaptors, available in both multimode and singlemode, comply with MIL-PRF853522/16-DNX and MIL-PRF-83522/16-DNY specifications.

    TE Connectivity produces a variety of connectors and contacts, including D-Subminiature (incl.     Hypertac offers PCB, rectangular, ARINC, and circular connectors designed to meet military specifications. Applications include engine control systems, landing gear control systems, and radar.

    ITT Cannon offers a variety of military connectors. TPV is a filtered, miniature, circular connector designed to meet applicable portions of MIL-C-26482 Series 2 and MIL-C-83723 Series 1. MDM and TMDM are microminiature filter connectors with contacts on 0.05 in center spacing, designed to meet applicable portions of MIL-PRF-83513. SMA connectors feature the MIL-C-39012 Series SMA interface and envelope configuration. DPX accommodates up to 424 contacts and is qualified to MIL-C-81659, as is DPXNA/NE. DPK is an environment-resistant, rectangular connector qualified to MIL-C-83733. The company also offers a variety of conectors that meet with MIL-DTL-38999 and other military specifications.

    ODU is the creator of the Advanced Military Connector, which is 60% lighter than standard military connectors, non-reflective, and watertight, with a protection class IP68. Operating temperatures range from -55 to +125 degrees Celsius. Self-sealing and self-cleaning versions are also available.

    PEI Genesis specializes in the distribution of military standard connectors, including MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-5015, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-83513, MIL-DTL-24308, and MIL-C-39029. Its suppliers include Amphenol,  ITT Cannon, Deutsch, and Tri-Star.
