Stages are used to provide stability, positioning and smoothness for various motion control applications. There are a variety of stage types available including: linear motor, vertical lift, direct drive, worm drive rotary, motorized, manual translation, micro, fiber alignment, compact XY, lifted, ball slide, crossed roller, and side drive.

    Allen-Bradley manufactures linear stage actuators for use in automation machinery. Features include full setup and programming support through RSLogix 5000 software, integrated linear stage-type actuator eliminates separate adapters, belts, gears, as well as assembly labor. 150 mm, 200 mm, and 250 mm frame sizes (based widths) available for 230 and 460-Volt operation with stroke lengths up to 2 meters.

    Baldor offers a Single Bearing Positioning Stage designed for long-stroke, high-acceleration closed position loop servo applications. It features a moving coil 3-phase cog-free brushless motor with single rail, two integral linear bearings and encoder. Single bearing positioning stages can be stacked on top of each other to provide a multiple axis positioning system.

    Applied Scientific Instrumentation offers LS-series stages that can be used in a wide range of applications and offer superior automated control when used with their MS-2000 control electronics.   • Parker Hannifin Corporation

    Parker Motion Control Systems offers precision rotary stages. The primary components in these stages are: a stationary base; main bearing; drive mechanism and rotating top (load platform). The base houses the main bearing, which is a high-precision, low-friction ball bearing that supports the rotating top. The rotating top is driven by the drive mechanism which controls the rotational velocity and positional accuracy of the top.

    Del-Tron offers a wide range of micrometer driven ball and crossed roller positioning stages with travels ranging from .25” to 2.0”. All units are available in X, XY and XYZ configurations and can carry load ranging from 4 lbs on miniature ball slide series all the way up to 160 lbs on our crossed roller positioning stages. Positioning accuracies range from 0.0005” per inch of travel straight line accuracy on ball slide positioning stages to 0.0001” per inch of travel straight line accuracy on crossed roller positioning stages.
