A gear is a rotating machine component with cogs or teeth that mesh with another cog to transmit torque.

A gear is a rotating machine part that has cut teeth/cogs that mesh with another toothed part in order to transmit torque. Geared devices are used to change the speed, magnitude, and/or direction of a power source, and offer an advantage over pulleys in that they do not slip. When two or more gears work together, they are called a transmission.Gears appear in a wide variety of types. The principle distinction is between an external gear that contains teeth on the outer surface of its cylinder or cone, and an internal gear that positions teeth on the inner surface.   • AME Components

    Advanced Machine & Engineering manufactures high precision worm gears consisting of a hollow and a shaftworm. Worm gear blackashes can be changed by turning or moving the hollow worm in relation to the shaftworm. Worm gear teeth have considerably more contact ratio than in standard worm gear pairs. This results in greater power transmission with greater accuracy of the parts.

Atlas worm gears are offered in diameters up to 36" and up to 8 starts. Again using the CNC gear hobber's we can handle higher helix angles and number of starts. Materials include plastics, bronze, ductile irons, stainless steels, cast irons and alloy steels.

Garuda internal gears have cylindrical pith surface with teeth parallel to the axis and teeth cut from inside the rim rather than outside. These gears are used along with the pinion. Teeth of internal gears carry the load and are evenly distributed. The center distance of given velocity is short. One thing, which should be kept in mind, is that the difference between teeth of girth gear and pinion gear should not be less than 15.
