Tolerances of up to 0.0001" are available in single or multiple threading and left or right hand worm gears. AGMA Level 12 quality gears in both inch and metric unit worm gears are also available.

Worm gears are used when large gear reductions are needed, commonly 20:1 and even up to 300:1. Acme's capabilities include a maximum pitch diameter of 60" and a minimum pitch diameter of 0.75".

AIM worm gears feature 40 diametrical pitch, 20 pressure angle, and a 3/4" OD worm made with AGMA grade 12 "AA" hob. Various wheel sizes are available.

    Atlas Gear Co. is a manufacturer of worm gears and worms up to 36" in diameter and 8 starts. Atlas can manufacture worm gears from bronze, plastic, stainless steel, ductile iron, cast iron and alloy steel for all applications.

  • Carnes-Miller Gear

    Carnes-Miller Gear (CMG) can manufacture worm gears up to 16"/400mm in diameter, made from CDA954 aluminum bronze, 660 bronze,  and other materials such as steel. A maximum diameter of 4"/100mm and a maximum length of 6"/150mm are available. Carnes-Miller can manufacture from 1 up to 6 single or multiple start worms with a right hand or left hand lead.

    Cleveland Gear can produce worm gears in small (3" through 6" centers) and large (7" through 36" centers) sizes. Smaller sizes have a bronze rim centrifugally cast onto a ductile iron center. Larger sizes feature a flanged rim for bolting. Cleveland Gear has more than 1500 hobs in stock with corresponding master worms.

    Emerson Power Transmission offers Browning worm gears in both cast iron and bronze from 32 to 3 DP. Bronze gears offer double the torque of cast iron types. Worm gears are available in single, double and quadruple thread (multiple threads offer higher torque) in ratios of 4:1 to 100:1.

  • Gudel, Inc.

    Gudel's AE range of servo worm gears is available in six sizes (30 to 180) and 10 standard ratios (2:1 to 24:1). Worms and worm wheels are manufactured to DIN 3975/76. The casings are fully machined with many fixing bores and tapped holes to allow mounting in many positions.

    Agro Engineers worm gears are offered in up to 20 module/1.5 DP with an outer diameter up to 2100mm/80". Face widths up to 800mm/31" in single or multi starts are also available. Worm gears can be made of cast iron, bronze (PB2S) or as specified. Agro also offers worm shafts up to 10 module/3 DP.

    HPC is a manufacturer and distributor of worm gears and wheels. Standard worm gear materials are En202 steel and delrin. An outside diameter range of 6mm to 100mm is available with pitches of 64 DP to 6 DP and a pressure angle of 20°.
